Description: The story revolves around Valerie, who lives with her parents, Cesaire and Suzette, and her older sister Lucie in the village of Daggerhorn, located near a forest haunted by a werewolf. Valerie is in love with Peter, a woodcutter and her childhood friend, but her parents arrange her marriage to Henry, the son of a wealthy blacksmith, Adrien Lazar. Valerie and Peter plan to run away together, but their plans are disrupted when the werewolf breaks its truce with the villagers and kills Lucie.
The village priest, Father Auguste, seeks the help of the renowned witch hunter, Father Solomon. The townspeople attempt to confront the werewolf themselves, but Father Solomon dismisses their efforts, claiming the slain animal is just a common wolf. He then isolates the village and begins investigating the villagers to uncover the werewolf’s true identity.
During another werewolf attack, Valerie discovers she can communicate with the beast, which threatens to destroy the village unless she leaves with him. The next day, Roxanne’s brother Claude is captured and killed by Father Solomon’s men, accused of practicing black magic. Roxanne reveals Valerie’s ability to the villagers, leading Father Solomon to suspect Valerie of witchcraft. He uses her as bait to lure the werewolf, but Henry and Peter help her escape.
In a climactic confrontation at the church, the werewolf attacks and bites Father Solomon, forcing the Captain to kill him. The villagers protect Valerie as the werewolf flees, leaving the mystery of its identity unresolved.
