Description: Red Notice is a 2021 American action-comedy film written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. The movie features Dwayne Johnson as an FBI agent who forms an unlikely partnership with a famous art thief, played by Ryan Reynolds, to capture an emerging criminal portrayed by Gal Gadot. This film marks the third collaboration between Thurber and Johnson, following their previous works, *Central Intelligence* (2016) and *Skyscraper* (2018).
Originally slated for release by Universal Pictures, Netflix secured the distribution rights on July 8, 2019. The movie premiered in limited theaters on November 5, 2021, before its digital release on Netflix on November 12, 2021. Despite its star-studded cast, the film received mostly negative reviews from critics.
The plot revolves around an Interpol-issued red notice, a global alert to apprehend the world’s most wanted criminals. When a high-stakes heist brings together the FBI’s top profiler (Johnson) and two rival criminals (Gadot and Reynolds), the outcome becomes unpredictable.
The project first gained attention on February 8, 2018, when major studios, including Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, Sony Pictures, and Paramount Pictures, engaged in a bidding war for the rights. Ultimately, Universal and Legendary emerged victorious. The film was produced by Beau Flynn’s Flynn Picture Company, alongside Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions and Thurber’s Bad Version Inc.
Dwayne Johnson reportedly earned at least $20 million for his role, marking a career milestone. Gal Gadot also secured $20 million for her part, making her the third highest-paid actress globally in 2020. Gadot joined the cast on June 11, 2018, followed by Ryan Reynolds on July 8, 2019. Ritu Arya and Chris Diamantopoulos were added to the cast on February 10, 2020.
