**Storyline:**
Frank Moses (Bruce Willis), a retired CIA black-ops agent now labeled as RED (Retired, Extremely Dangerous), lives a solitary life in Cleveland. Seeking companionship, he tears up his pension checks to have excuses to call Sarah Ross (Mary-Louise Parker), a GSA pension office worker in Kansas City. One night, an assassination team attacks Frank’s home, but he effortlessly takes them down. Realizing Sarah might be in danger, he attempts to convince her to join him. When she refuses, he kidnaps her for her own safety. Meanwhile, CIA agent William Cooper (Karl Urban) is ordered by his corrupt superior, Cynthia Wilkes (Rebecca Pidgeon), to eliminate Frank.
Determined to uncover who’s targeting him, Frank seeks help from his former associates. He visits his old mentor, Joe Matheson (Morgan Freeman), in New Orleans, who reveals that a New York Times reporter was also killed by the same hit squad. After rescuing Sarah from an abduction attempt, Frank evades Cooper and heads to New York City, where they discover clues left by the reporter pointing to a hit list.
Frank reunites with Marvin Boggs (John Malkovich), a paranoid former colleague, who links the targets to a covert 1981 mission in Guatemala. Another associate, Gabriel Singer (James Remar), explains the mission involved extracting a person from a Guatemalan village. As Singer is killed by a helicopter gunner, Frank and his team narrowly escape Cooper’s pursuit.
The story unfolds as Frank and his allies work to expose the conspiracy and protect themselves from the relentless pursuit of the CIA.
