Description: The 2018 film *Ratsasan* follows a gripping storyline that begins with the discovery of a murdered 15-year-old schoolgirl named Samyuktha. Her body is found brutally mutilated and wrapped in a polythene bag. Arun Kumar, portrayed by Vishnu Vishal, is an aspiring filmmaker who dreams of creating a movie about psychopaths. However, after facing repeated rejections and pressure from his family, he abandons his dream and becomes an Assistant Sub-Inspector with the help of his brother-in-law, Doss, a police officer. Arun moves in with his sister Kokila, her husband Prasad, and their daughter Ammu.
Ammu finds herself in trouble when she convinces Arun to forge her father’s signature on her report card after failing two subjects. Her class teacher, Vijayalakshmi (Viji), played by Amala Paul, becomes suspicious and assumes Ammu signed it herself. When Arun impersonates Ammu’s father at school, the truth is eventually revealed, leading to Ammu’s transfer to another school. Arun later befriends Viji and her niece Kayal, who is unable to speak.
The plot thickens when another teenage girl, Amudha, is kidnapped on her way home. Her parents discover a mutilated doll’s head in a gift box attached to their dog’s collar. Arun notices similarities between Amudha’s case and Samyuktha’s murder—both victims were 15-year-old schoolgirls abducted while returning home. The doll’s face bears the same gruesome marks as Samyuktha’s injuries, including uprooted hair, drilled eyes, and a damaged mouth. Arun suspects a psychopath is behind these crimes, but his theories are dismissed by his superior, ACP Lakshmi, who sees them as baseless speculation.
The film delves into Arun’s relentless pursuit of the truth as he uncovers the dark motives behind the killings. *Ratsasan* is a thrilling exploration of crime, psychology, and justice.
