Description: Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman is a 1992 Hindi film that follows the story of Raj Mathur, portrayed by Shahrukh Khan, a young civil engineering diploma holder from Darjeeling. Raj moves to Bombay with dreams of becoming a successful engineer. Upon arrival, he searches for a distant relative but discovers they left years ago. Stranded, he spends the night at a temple, where he meets Jai, a philosophical street performer played by Nana Patekar. Jai becomes his close friend and offers him a place to stay.
Struggling to find a job in the city, Raj’s fortunes change when he meets Renu, played by Juhi Chawla, who works as a secretary at a construction company. She helps him secure a trainee position under Chabbria, the company’s head. As Raj progresses in his career, he and Renu fall in love. However, Raj soon catches the attention of Chabbria’s daughter, Sapna, played by Amrita Singh. He gets drawn into her glamorous lifestyle, and Sapna falls for him. When she realizes Raj’s true feelings for Renu, she is heartbroken.
Amidst this, Raj faces professional challenges as his enemies conspire against him. A bridge under his supervision collapses, and he bears the blame. This incident forces Raj to reevaluate his life, and he realizes that the wealthy, glamorous world is not what he truly desires. In the end, Raj decides to leave.
The story concludes with Jai reassuring others that Raj will return when he turns his head to look at Renu. As Jai says the word “Palat” (meaning “turn”), Raj glances back at Renu, and they reunite, marking a heartfelt ending.
