Description: Raangi (meaning “A headstrong woman”) is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by M. Saravanan and produced by Allirajah Subaskaran under Lyca Productions. The movie features Trisha in the lead role. The music was composed by C. Sathya, while K. A. Sakthivel handled cinematography and M. Subarak was in charge of editing. Released theatrically on December 30, 2022, the film received mixed reviews but achieved moderate success.
The story revolves around Thaiyal Nayagi, an online channel reporter who lives with her brother, sister-in-law, and niece Sushmita. Thaiyal discovers that a fake Facebook account in Sushmita’s name is communicating with Aalim, a member of a terrorist organization based in Tunisia. As Thaiyal gets entangled in the situation, it leads to her and Sushmita’s arrest. The FBI then decides to use both women as bait to capture Aalim.
Originally titled “Trisha61,” the film was officially named “Raangi” on April 20, 2019. Filming concluded on February 12, 2020. The soundtrack, composed by C. Sathya, marked his third collaboration with M. Saravanan, following “Engaeyum Eppothum” and “Ivan Veramathiri.” The first single, “Panithuli,” was released on December 15, 2020.
