**Storyline:**
The Ulam, a tribe of early humans, rely on a precious flame to survive, as they lack the knowledge to create fire. After a brutal clash with the ape-like Wagabu forces them to flee their home, disaster strikes when their sacred fire is accidentally extinguished. Desperate, the tribe’s elder sends three men—Naoh, Amoukar, and Gaw—on a perilous journey to find fire.
Their quest is fraught with danger, including a deadly encounter with the Kzamm, a cannibalistic tribe that possesses fire. Naoh, Amoukar, and Gaw devise a plan to steal the Kzamm’s fire, but the mission leaves Naoh severely injured. A young woman named Ika, who was held captive by the Kzamm, joins them and helps Naoh recover using a primitive poultice.
As they continue their journey, tensions arise among the group, particularly when Amoukar attempts to dominate Ika. However, Naoh asserts himself, marking a shift in their dynamics. When Ika realizes they are near her homeland, she urges the Ulam to join her tribe. They initially refuse and part ways, but Naoh eventually changes his mind, leading the group back together.
Naoh’s curiosity lands him in quicksand, and he is later captured by the Ivaka, Ika’s tribe. The Ivaka subject him to various rituals, including forced mating with their women, while Ika is ostracized by her own people. The tribe demonstrates their advanced ability to create fire, leaving Naoh in awe of their knowledge.
