**Storyline:**
On the evening of March 11, 2008, news reporter Angela Vidal and her cameraman Scott Percival are documenting the night shift at Station 27 of the Los Angeles Fire Department. While filming, they accompany firefighters Jake and Fletcher to respond to an emergency call at a local apartment building. Upon arrival, they hear screams coming from a self-barricaded room belonging to an elderly resident, Mrs. Espinosa. The landlord, Yuri, his wife Wanda, and other residents, including veterinarian Lawrence, opera teacher Bernard, his roommate Sadie, lawyer Randy, mother Kathy, her daughter Briana, and an immigrant African couple, Nadif and Jwahir, are present.
When the crew, firefighters, Yuri, and police officers Danny Wilensky and James McCreedy enter the room, they are attacked by a highly aggressive Mrs. Espinosa, who bites James and Fletcher. Lawrence tends to their wounds downstairs, but Espinosa attacks the group again, prompting Danny to shoot her. The residents are then ordered downstairs for safety, where they discover another resident, Elise, displaying symptoms similar to Espinosa’s. The wounded begin to fall ill and show signs of delirium.
Authorities, including the CDC, abruptly quarantine the building, preventing anyone from leaving. Angela interviews Briana, who mentions her dog is at the vet due to illness. Lawrence later identifies the symptoms as resembling rabies. Angela and Scott follow Bernard and Sadie to their apartment to check the news, only to witness a rabid dog kill Randy in the elevator. They are then attacked by Elise, who becomes aggressive, and Scott kills her in self-defense. CDC officers in hazmat suits arrive to test Fletcher and James, who become violently aggressive, biting an officer and Lawrence.
