Description: The movie “Qismat” (2018) begins with the protagonist, Shivjit, requesting his parents to let him move to Chandigarh for college. Having failed twice in completing his bachelor’s degree, Shivjit promises his parents that he will pass his exams if they allow him to relocate. His father is hesitant and suggests arranging a marriage for him instead, but his aunt supports his plan, enabling him to move to the city. Upon arriving in Chandigarh, Shivjit immediately seeks a casual relationship and soon meets Bani, a young woman living near his new apartment.
Bani is already in a relationship, but she discovers her boyfriend cheating on her. To teach him a lesson, she asks Shivjit to act as her fake boyfriend. As they spend time together, they grow closer and develop genuine feelings for each other. However, after her past heartbreak, Bani decides to follow her father’s wish for an arranged marriage. Shivjit objects and sends her a letter urging her to marry someone she loves, not a stranger chosen by her father. Unfortunately, the letter ends up with Bani’s father, who is a police officer. He becomes furious and warns Shivjit to stay away from his daughter.
The situation takes a turn when Bani’s health declines after being separated from Shivjit. Realizing the impact Shivjit has on her well-being, her father has no choice but to bring him back to help her recover.
