**Storyline:**
In 1945, the U.S. government established an agency called The Division to track and experiment on individuals with psychic abilities. These psychics are categorized based on their powers. Two Movers, teenager Nick Gant and his father Jonah, are on the run from Division Agent Carver. Jonah reveals a vision from a Watcher, foretelling that Nick must aid a young girl in the future to dismantle Division. Witnessing Carver kill his father, Nick manages to escape.
Years later, Division develops a drug capable of enhancing psychic abilities. After multiple failed trials resulting in fatalities, an unknown female Pusher successfully adapts to the drug. She escapes, taking a syringe of the substance, and flees to Hong Kong, a haven for psychics. Now living as an expatriate in Hong Kong, Nick struggles with gambling debts, having tried to use his Mover powers to cheat.
When Division agents visit Nick for leads on the escaped Pusher, they leave empty-handed. Shortly after, Cassie Holmes, a young Watcher, approaches Nick for help locating the woman, who reportedly carries a case containing six million dollars. While convincing Nick, they are ambushed by the Triads at a market. Nick is critically injured by a Bleeder but escapes with Cassie. Separated during the chaos, Cassie finds Nick unconscious and being treated by Teresa Stowe, a Stitch who owes a favor to Cassie’s mother. Teresa heals Nick but mocks Cassie about her mother’s imprisonment by Division. Cassie’s mother, Sarah, is renowned as the most powerful Watcher ever born, held captive to exploit her abilities.
