Description: **Punormilone 2023 Movie Overview**
**Storyline:**
Nirmal Chakravarty’s directorial debut, ‘Datta,’ is set for release after overcoming several delays caused by the pandemic and the scheduling conflicts of Bangladeshi actor Ferdous Ahmed, who was originally cast in a lead role. He was later replaced by Saheb Chattopadhyay, and the filming finally concluded. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 16. Based on the novel of the same name by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, ‘Datta’ is a period drama.
The recently released official trailer suggests that the film will be an entertaining representation of mainstream cinema while embodying cultural values. Besides Rituparna Sengupta and Saheb Chattopadhyay, the cast includes Joy Sengupta, Devlina Kumar, and Biswajit Chakraborty in pivotal roles. The narrative revolves around a romantic relationship shaped by the Victorian concept of ‘romantic love,’ exploring the bond that forms between an affluent Brahmo woman and a talented, impoverished Hindu man. Rituparna portrays Bijoya, the progressive Brahmo woman, while Joy Sengupta plays Naren, an essential character, and Saheb also takes on the role of Naren.
Rituparna expressed her appreciation for Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, stating, “Writers who inspire our real-life through their words are like fire igniting our soul. Sarat Chandra is one such writer in Bengali literature. I felt honored to work on ‘Datta,’ one of his masterpieces. On his 146th birth anniversary, I cherish this memory once again.” She further mentioned that upon receiving the role, she revisited the novel and was captivated by Bijoya’s character, who was progressive for her era.
