**Storyline:**
After losing his family to mob violence, Frank Castle, a former Force Recon Marine, has spent the last five years as a vigilante known as the Punisher. In his crusade against crime, Castle targets a party hosted by local mafia boss Gaitano Cesare, killing him and his guests. Cesare’s caporegime, Billy “The Beaut” Russotti, manages to escape to his hideout at a recycling plant. Detectives Martin Soap and Saffiotti, who were surveilling the party, inform Castle about Russotti’s location.
Castle infiltrates the hideout, leading to a shootout that results in Russotti being thrown into a glass-crushing machine, leaving him severely disfigured. Russotti later adopts the name “Jigsaw” due to the puzzle-piece-like scars on his face. During the chaos, Castle discovers that one of the victims, Nicky Donatelli, was actually an undercover FBI agent.
Agent Paul Budiansky, Donatelli’s partner, joins the NYPD’s “Punisher Task Force” to bring Castle to justice. Meanwhile, Jigsaw frees his deranged and cannibalistic brother, “Loony Bin Jim.”
Devastated by the accidental killing of Donatelli, Castle tries to make amends with the agent’s wife, Angela, and daughter, Grace, but they refuse his help. Castle contemplates retiring as a vigilante, but his armorer, Microchip, convinces him to continue, warning that Jigsaw will seek revenge on Donatelli’s family.
Jigsaw, Loony Bin Jim, and their henchmen, Ink and Pittsy, break into Donatelli’s home, holding the family hostage. The Punisher tracks down one of Jigsaw’s associates, Maginty, executes him, and retrieves crucial information before being captured by Budiansky and Soap. Castle reveals Jigsaw’s plan, prompting Budiansky to send a patrol car to check on the Donatelli residence.
When the patrol car fails to respond, Budiansky arrives at the house, only to be captured by Ink and Pittsy. Soap frees the Punisher, who eliminates Ink and Pittsy, rescuing Angela and Grace. Budiansky ultimately arrests Jigsaw and Loony Bin Jim after a brief confrontation.
