Description: In a near-future version of New Orleans, a mysterious figure begins distributing a pill known as “Power.” This pill grants users temporary superhuman abilities for five minutes. Among the recipients is a drug dealer named Newt.
Six weeks later, Newt’s teenage cousin Robin, who also deals drugs, almost falls victim to a robbery by customers seeking Power. She is saved by NOPD Officer Frank Shaver, one of her regular clients. Meanwhile, a man named Art is on a mission to find the mastermind behind Power, referred to as “Biggie.” Art confronts Newt, but the encounter ends in tragedy when Newt overdoses on the pill.
Frank intervenes in a bank robbery committed by a Power-enhanced thief but is suspended from his job for using the drug himself. His captain warns him that government officials are suppressing investigations into Power and reveals a suspect thought to be the drug’s source: Art.
Using Newt’s phone, Art tracks down and kidnaps Robin, forcing her to lead him to the cartel’s safehouse. During a confrontation with the cartel, Art is shot and uncovers that Power users are being monitored as test subjects for the drug. While recovering, Art bonds with Robin and shares his backstory: after leaving the military, he was recruited by a private defense contractor named Teleios, which experimented on him to develop superpowers. His daughter Tracy, born with abilities inherited from the experiments, was kidnapped by a Teleios operative named Wallace.
Art and Robin locate Biggie, who is hosting a private demonstration of Project Power near the Superdome, where a Saints home game is taking place. Biggie claims that Power represents the next step in human evolution, with the pill’s abilities inspired by animals like the chameleon and the wolverine frog. Art interrogates Biggie at gunpoint and learns about a ship called the *Genesis*. Frank interrupts the scene, having tracked other Power users to the demonstration. Biggie consumes Power, forcing Art, Robin, and Frank to flee as Art kills Biggie in an explosion.
