Description: The story follows the adventures of Professor Shonku, a brilliant fictional scientist and inventor, as he journeys to the heart of the Amazon rainforest in search of the legendary city of El Dorado. One day, Nakur Chandra Biswas, also known as Nakur Babu, visits Shonku at his home in Giridih. Hailing from Makardaha, Nakur Babu possesses extraordinary supernatural abilities, including the power to read minds and foresee future events. Fascinated by Nakur Babu’s extrasensory skills, Shonku accompanies him to Brazil for a scientific conference. Their journey quickly turns into a thrilling mystery that leads them deep into the Brazilian Amazon, culminating in the discovery of the fabled city of El Dorado.
The film received mixed reviews. The Times of India awarded it three out of five stars, noting that while the visual elements were impressive, the lead actor’s portrayal of Shonku lacked spontaneity, and some performances, particularly Nakur Babu’s, were overly emotional. The CGI was also criticized for appearing somewhat weak. Firstpost similarly rated the film three stars, highlighting the absence of the urgency and conciseness characteristic of Satyajit Ray’s original writings. The Indian Express Bangla was slightly more generous, giving it three and a half stars. Despite its flaws, the film marks Shonku’s debut on the big screen, offering hope for future improvements in his cinematic journey.
