Description: In a post-apocalyptic world, a centuries-long war between humans and vampires has left the planet in ruins. The conflict led to the rise of a theocracy governed by The Church. Despite humanity’s technological advancements and the vampires’ vulnerability to sunlight, the creatures’ superior strength and speed made them nearly invincible. To survive, humans retreated into massive walled cities and trained a group of elite warriors known as the Priests, who finally turned the tide of the war.
Years later, most vampires have been eradicated, with the remaining few confined to reservations. The Clergy, believing the threat eliminated, disbanded the Priests. Beyond the safety of the cities, some humans have chosen to live freely, escaping the Church’s authoritarian rule.
Priest, played by Paul Bettany, is approached by Hicks (Cam Gigandet), the sheriff of a free town called Augustine. Priest learns that his brother, Owen, and Owen’s wife, Shannon—who was once Priest’s girlfriend—were fatally wounded in a vampire attack. His niece, Lucy (Lily Collins), was kidnapped. Hicks seeks Priest’s help in rescuing her. Priest appeals to the Church to reinstate his authority, but Monsignor Orelas (Christopher Plummer) dismisses the vampire threat, refusing to acknowledge the danger, fearing it would undermine the Church’s power. Defiantly, Priest leaves the city to save Lucy, prompting Orelas to send a team of Priests and a Priestess (Maggie Q) to bring him back.
The story unfolds as Priest battles both the vampires and the oppressive forces of the Church in a quest to rescue his niece and confront the remnants of a deadly enemy.
