**Storyline:**
A spacecraft sends a shuttlecraft into Earth’s atmosphere. On a Central American beach, Major “Dutch” Schaefer, a Vietnam War veteran, leads a six-man military rescue team. Their mission, assigned by US Major General Philips, is to save a foreign cabinet minister and his aide from insurgents. CIA agent Dillon, Dutch’s old war buddy, joins the team despite Dutch’s objections.
During their journey, the team discovers a downed helicopter destroyed by a heat-seeking missile. The pilots are executed, and the radio equipment is missing. Nearby, they find three brutally skinned corpses, identified by Dutch as Jim Hopper, a Green Beret from Fort Bragg. This raises Dutch’s suspicions.
Upon reaching the guerrilla camp, the team witnesses the execution of a “hostage” by a Russian. They attack, killing dozens of guerrillas and Soviet intelligence officers attempting to escape in a helicopter. Confronted by Dutch, Dillon admits the “hostage rescue” was a cover story and that Dutch is an expendable asset. The mission confirms intelligence about a planned Soviet-backed invasion, revealing that the skinned Green Berets were sent by the CIA weeks earlier.
After being informed via radio that more rebels are approaching, the team moves quickly toward the extraction point, taking Anna, the only surviving guerrilla, with them. However, they soon realize they’re being followed by an unseen presence. Anna escapes, and tracker Billy becomes unnerved by the alien predator observing them from the treetops.
Hawkins pursues Anna but is killed by the creature, which uses advanced cloaking technology. The predator spares Anna but drags Hawkins’ body away, leaving his organs scattered. Heavy gunner Blain is also killed while searching for Hawkins. Enraged, Blain’s friend Mac unleashes a barrage of bullets and grenades, wounding the predator and revealing its glowing green blood.
The team regroups, now aware that something in the jungle is hunting them. Dillon suspects more guerrillas, but Billy insists the predator is not human and warns that they will all die. As night falls, the team sets up camp and prepares traps.
