Description: “Planet Hulk” (2010) follows the story of Hulk, who, after listening to a message from the Illuminati explaining their actions, crashes on the planet Sakaar. Weakened from the impact, he is fitted with an obedience disk and enslaved. Forced to fight as a gladiator for the planet’s ruler, the Red King, Hulk forms a bond with his fellow warriors, including Miek, Elloe Kaifi, Lavin Skee, Hiroim, and Korg, forming a group known as the “Warbound.”
Hulk’s victories in the arena make him a hero among the people. When insurgents attempt to recruit him, Hulk declines, though Elloe chooses to join their cause. During a battle, Lavin Skee is killed, and as the group nears their freedom, the Red King’s lieutenant, Caiera, arranges a fight against the Silver Surfer, who is also controlled by an obedience disk. Hulk breaks the disk, freeing the Surfer, who then destroys all the disks in the arena. The Surfer offers to take Hulk back to Earth, but Hulk chooses to remain on Sakaar.
Fleeing from the Red King, Hulk and the Warbound are hunted by Caiera. Along their journey, Hulk gains followers who believe him to be the prophesied savior, “Sakaarson,” though he rejects the title. Caiera eventually confronts Hulk, but their battle is interrupted by an invasion of deadly “spikes” that cause mutations and death. Learning the Red King ordered the attack, Caiera turns against him and joins Hulk.
Hulk leads an assault on the Red King’s capital, defeating him in a personal duel and becoming the new ruler. Marrying Caiera, Hulk establishes peace across the planet, and the two prepare for the birth of their child.
Overall, “Planet Hulk” explores themes of resilience, leadership, and redemption as Hulk rises from slavery to become a revered leader on an alien world.
