Description: “Piranha II: The Spawning” (1982) is a thrilling horror film set in a Caribbean coastal resort, Hotel Elysium. The story begins when a series of deadly marine animal attacks terrorize the area, originating from a sunken shipwreck nearby. Anne Kimbrough, a diving instructor and former marine biologist, becomes deeply concerned after one of her students falls victim to the attacks. Despite her estranged husband, Steve, a local police officer, refusing to let her inspect the body, Anne suspects something unusual is happening.
The situation escalates when flying piranhas kill two women and a man. Determined to uncover the truth, Anne, accompanied by a persistent tourist named Tyler Sherman, visits the morgue to examine the corpse. Unbeknownst to them, a piranha hidden in the body kills a nurse and escapes.
Anne’s investigation takes a shocking turn when she discovers terrifying details about the corpse. Meanwhile, her strained relationship with Steve worsens after he finds out she went to the morgue and spent the night with Tyler. Despite her warnings about the imminent danger, Steve dismisses her concerns.
Anne’s attempts to cancel diving sessions lead to her being fired by her manager, who believes she has lost her sanity. Desperate to prove the threat, Anne learns from Tyler that he is a biochemist and part of a team that developed genetically modified, flying piranhas. He reveals that a cylinder containing these deadly fish was lost in the water, sparking the chaos.
The film combines suspense, horror, and scientific intrigue as Anne and Tyler race to stop the piranhas from claiming more victims.
