Description: “Piggy,” Carlota Pereda’s debut feature film, is an adaptation of her award-winning 2019 short film of the same name. The original short film earned the Goya Award and the Forqué Award for Best Short Film. The movie stars Laura Galán, Paco Hidalgo, Elisabet Casanovas, Sara Barroso, Mireia Vilapuig, and Jorge Elorza, with Galán reprising her lead role from the short film. The ensemble cast also includes Richard Holmes, Carmen Machi, Claudia Salas, Irene Ferreiro, Camille Aguilar, José Pastor, Pilar Castro, and Chema del Barco. Cinematography was handled by Rita Noriega.
This Spain-France co-production, with a budget of €2.5 million, was brought to life by Morena Films, Backup Studio, and Cerdita AIE, in collaboration with La Banque Postale and Indéfilms. The project also saw participation from RTVE and Movistar+, with additional support from the Junta de Extremadura, Eurimages, the Creative Europe MEDIA sub-program, and Madrid’s regional government. The film prominently features the white C15 vehicle, a familiar sight in rural Spain.
Filming commenced on June 17, 2021, and concluded in late July, with Villanueva de la Vera in Extremadura and its surroundings serving as key locations.
