**Storyline:**
Stuart Shepard, portrayed by Colin Farrell, is a self-assured and arrogant publicist based in New York City. He is entangled in an affair with Pamela McFadden (Katie Holmes), while his wife Kelly (Radha Mitchell) remains unaware. While in Times Square, Stuart uses a public phone booth to call Pamela. During the conversation, he is interrupted by a pizza delivery man offering a free pizza, but Stuart rudely dismisses him. Moments after hanging up, the phone rings again. Stuart answers, only to be confronted by a mysterious man who knows his name and warns him not to leave the booth. The caller threatens to expose Stuart’s infidelity to his wife if he disobeys.
The caller reveals that he has previously tested two individuals, giving them a chance to confess their wrongdoings. In both cases, they refused and were killed. Stuart is now in a similar predicament and must confess his actions to both his wife and Pamela to avoid meeting the same fate. To prove his seriousness, the caller fires a sniper rifle with precision. The stranger then connects Pamela to Stuart’s call, forcing him to admit his marital status.
Three prostitutes approach the booth, demanding to use the phone, but Stuart refuses to leave, unable to explain his situation. Leon, a pimp played by John Enos III, smashes the booth’s glass, attacks Stuart, and beats him as the prostitutes watch. In a moment of confusion, Stuart unintentionally asks the caller to intervene, resulting in Leon being fatally shot. The prostitutes accuse Stuart of the murder, drawing the attention of police and news crews. NYPD Captain Ed Ramey, played by Forest Whitaker, seals off the area and attempts to negotiate with Stuart, but he remains trapped in the booth, facing an impossible dilemma.
