Description: “Phone Bhoot,” released in 2022, is a Hindi comedy-horror film directed by Gurmmeet Singh and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment. The story follows Major (Siddhant Chaturvedi) and Galileo (Ishaan Khatter), two individuals who can see ghosts. They strike a deal with the ghost Ragini (Katrina Kaif) to earn money in exchange for a favor she will reveal at the right time. The trio embarks on a mission to help unsettled spirits fulfill their final wishes, earning them the title of “Desi Ghostbusters.”
However, the plot takes a turn with the introduction of Atmaram (Jackie Shroff), an evil spirit who manipulates and deceives lost souls. Amidst the chaos, Ragini’s romantic angle adds complexity, though the film struggles with pacing in the second half.
The screenplay, co-written by Ravi Shankaran and Jasvinder Singh Bath since 2009, remains engaging after 13 years of development. The film cleverly incorporates pop-culture references, with around 25 nods to viral moments and iconic scenes, such as the “Dance With Coffin” trend and characters from “Mirzapur.”
The soundtrack includes songs like “Kinna Sona” and “Kaali Teri Gut,” released in October 2022, with the official “Phone Bhoot Theme” video launching on October 31, 2022.
“Phone Bhoot” combines humor, horror, and a touch of romance, delivering an entertaining yet uneven cinematic experience.
