The story follows Rhythm, who frequently visits the lake where her son Ajay was last seen, recalling their cherished memories. One day, she observes a masked figure chasing an injured man. The man warns her to flee to avoid being killed, revealing that the masked person was seen with a missing child. Rhythm escapes but witnesses the killer murder the man. The killer notices her but lets her go. Frantic, Rhythm reports the incident to the police, urging them to search the lake. She believes the missing child is Ajay, but the inspector dismisses her claims, mentioning another child, Anjana, who has also gone missing. Determined, Rhythm returns to the lake, where she is startled by a child emerging from the forest. To her shock, she discovers it is Ajay.
DNA tests confirm the boy is indeed Ajay, bringing Rhythm immense joy. However, Ajay’s condition is distressing—his body shows signs of torture, he refuses to speak, and exhibits no clear behavior patterns. With the consent of Ajay’s father, Raghu, Rhythm takes him to live with her and her husband, Gautham. Despite her efforts to communicate with Ajay, he remains unresponsive. One night, Rhythm hears him singing “Twinkle Twinkle” and notices his drawings, which suggest the kidnapper may still be watching him. During a restaurant meeting with Raghu, Rhythm spots the kidnapper but loses track of him. She briefly loses Ajay as well, but Raghu manages to find him.
*Penguin* is a gripping story of a mother’s relentless quest for justice and her fight to protect her family.
