**Storyline:**
The narrative centers on Parghat Singh Kahlon, also known as Gattu or Kaali (Akshay Kumar), who is living a life dictated by his father, Gurtej Singh Kahlon (Rishi Kapoor). Gattu was once a talented cricketer with aspirations to play for England, but his father consistently disapproved, even threatening suicide to deter him. This strained relationship caused Gattu to feel isolated within his family, as his siblings resented him for being the “perfect” child. His life changes when he forms bonds with Zeeshan and Simran (Anushka Sharma).
In the present day, Gattu gets a second chance to pursue his cricket dream. Encouraged by his siblings and Simran, he decides to take the opportunity, hoping to prove that the world has become less racist. However, they keep his participation a secret from Gurtej. When Gurtej eventually discovers the truth, he is devastated and suffers a heart attack. Despite this, Gattu continues to play cricket, driven by his love for the sport and the desire to change his father’s perspective.
The Southall community rallies to convince Gurtej that supporting Gattu’s cricket career is the right thing to do. Meanwhile, Gattu struggles during a match, disheartened by his father’s disapproval. In a pivotal moment, Gurtej watches an interview where Gattu claims his father is proud of him, leading Gurtej to realize the harm he has caused. Moved by this, Gurtej asks to be taken to the stadium to support his son.
The story highlights themes of family, dreams, and reconciliation as Gattu strives to bridge the gap between his passion and his father’s expectations.
