**Storyline:**
Travis Henderson wanders alone through the West Texas desert in a dazed state before collapsing in a bar. A German doctor examines him and discovers Travis is mute but finds a telephone number among his belongings. The doctor contacts Walt Henderson, Travis’s brother in Los Angeles, who hasn’t seen or heard from Travis in four years. Walt agrees to travel to Terlingua, Texas, to bring him back. Walt’s wife, Anne, is concerned as they have been caring for Travis’s young son, Hunter, whose biological mother, Jane, has also disappeared.
When Walt arrives in Terlingua, he finds Travis wandering away from the clinic. The two brothers begin their journey back to Los Angeles. As they drive, Walt grows frustrated with Travis’s silence until Travis finally speaks, mentioning “Paris.” Walt initially assumes he means Paris, France, but Travis clarifies by showing a photo of an empty property in Paris, Texas, believing he was conceived there.
Upon reaching Los Angeles, Travis reunites with Hunter, who, now seven years old, barely remembers him. Their bond begins to rebuild after watching old home videos, and Hunter realizes Travis still loves Jane. Anne later reveals that Jane has been in contact, sending monthly deposits for Hunter from a bank in Houston. Travis decides to find Jane, borrowing money from Walt and setting off with Hunter, despite not having permission from Walt or Anne. The father and son drive to Houston, with Hunter sharing his thoughts on the origins of the universe along the way.
