Seeking a story that would reignite his passion, Monaghan eagerly read the screenplay for “Paradise Highway.” He found it both extraordinary and deeply moving, appreciating its ability to address heavy subject matter while maintaining a sense of humanity and beauty.
Monaghan was so captivated by the script that he reached out to the producers and eventually auditioned for the role. Director Anna Gutto, initially unfamiliar with his work, required him to read for the part before casting him. Reflecting on his experience, Monaghan shared insights into his character’s journey, the privilege of working alongside Morgan Freeman, and the valuable lessons he learned during production. He also emphasized the powerful message he hopes audiences will take away from the film.
