**Storyline:**
As Earth’s resources dwindle due to overpopulation, humanity constructs an interstellar ark named Elysium to transport 60,000 people on a 123-year journey to colonize Tanis, an Earth-like planet. Passengers are placed in hypersleep, while a rotating crew wakes every two years to maintain the ship. Eight years into the mission, the ship receives a haunting message from Earth: “You’re all that’s left of us. Good luck, God bless, and godspeed.”
An unknown period later, two crew members, Corporal Bower and Lieutenant Payton, awaken. Their improper emergence from hypersleep leaves them with partial amnesia and possible symptoms of pandorum, a space-induced psychosis triggered by emotional stress. With the ship experiencing power surges from an unstable nuclear reactor, they are unable to access the bridge. While Payton stays behind to work on the ship’s systems, Bower navigates the ventilation system to locate the reactor.
Bower discovers a mutilated corpse and encounters a wounded mechanic who warns him to flee from “them.” The noise attracts a group of cannibalistic humanoids, who are drawn to sound. Continuing his search, Bower meets Nadia, an environmental scientist, and Manh, a farmer who doesn’t speak English. Despite initial hostility, Bower convinces them to join forces. They retreat to a barricaded chamber, where they find Leland, a cook who has been awake for years, surviving on algae-infested water and resorting to cannibalism.
Meanwhile, Payton encounters Corporal Gallo, who claims the ship is lost in space and that he killed his team in self-defense. Leland feeds Bower’s group and reveals murals depicting the ship’s grim history: after Earth was destroyed by an unknown catastrophe, Gallo descended into madness, murdered his crew, and spread pandorum among the passengers.
