Storyline:
Lineth (Azi Acosta) lost her home when Typhoon Odette devastated Roxas City in Capiz. With her newborn daughter, she stowed away on a RORO ferry heading to Manila. Her plan was to seek shelter at her brother Toto’s (Felix Roco) house in Segovia, Pampanga, with his wife Shiony (Shiena Yu). On the bus, a seaman named Rod (Mark Anthony Fernandez) stepped in to help her when she was harassed by troublemakers who saw her breastfeeding. Rod paid for her fare and listened as Lineth shared her harrowing experience with the ship captain Ramos (Julio Diaz) and his crew (Rash Flores, Chad Solano, Alvaro Oteyza), as well as the kindness of an elderly woman (Erlinda Villalobos) who took pity on her.
The title “Pamasahe” carries a double meaning. Initially, it refers to the “ticket fare” Lineth couldn’t afford. However, since she had massage skills, the captain demanded she provide massages in exchange for staying onboard, with “pamasahe” also meaning “request for a massage.” As a Vivamax film, it implies Lineth was subjected to further exploitation beyond just massages.
The movie extensively depicts scenes of rape, incest, and adultery, often going beyond what is necessary. Lineth endures degrading and humiliating abuse from various men throughout her life. While these moments highlight her suffering, the excessive focus on these graphic details distracts from the storytelling rather than enhancing it.
