Description: Out of Africa is a 1985 film that tells the story of Karen Blixen, a wealthy Danish woman who moves to Africa in 1913. After being rejected by her Swedish nobleman lover, she marries his brother, Baron Bror Blixen, out of convenience, and they relocate near Nairobi in British East Africa. Using her funds, Bror establishes a cattle ranch, but when Karen joins him later, she discovers he has instead used the money to start a coffee farm situated at an elevation too high for success.
During her journey to Nairobi, Karen meets big-game hunter Denys Finch Hatton, who entrusts his ivory haul to her. Upon arrival, she is greeted by Farah, a Somali headman hired by Bror, who is absent. Karen eventually marries Bror and learns to love Africa, its people, and the stunning landscapes, including the Ngong Hills and the Great Rift Valley.
She takes on the responsibility of caring for the Kikuyu people living on her land, establishing a school, tending to their medical needs, and resolving disputes. Despite her efforts to create a European-style home and integrate into the upper-class colonial society, Bror remains disinterested in the farm, preferring hunting safaris. Karen’s life in Africa becomes a tale of love, resilience, and adaptation to a new world.
