“Ostinato Destino” (Wayward Destiny) features Monica Bellucci in a dual role as twin sisters Marina and Angela, representing good and evil. The story begins with the death of Carolina Rambaldi, a wealthy woman who surprises her ungrateful children during the reading of her will by imposing specific conditions for inheriting her fortune.
Carolina’s three children—Marcello, a lazy and aimless man; Lucrezia, a bossy TV producer; and Cesare, a malicious homosexual sociologist—are discontented with her demands. The will stipulates that her estate will go to the child who is married and has had a child within the past year and a half. Neither Cesare nor Lucrezia can meet these requirements.
Marcello, however, marries Marina, a dangerous and manipulative woman. Though Marina becomes pregnant, she tragically suffers a miscarriage. She learns of a German clinic specializing in embryo transplants for infertile women. To pursue this opportunity, she convinces her twin sister Angela to take her place while she travels to Germany. However, Cesare discovers her plan and sabotages her journey by causing an explosion on the plane she is on. Angela then steps in to undergo the transplant originally intended for Marina.
