Description: In a world where mythical creatures once thrived, magic was a common yet challenging skill to master thousands of years ago. Over time, technological advancements rendered magic obsolete, and it gradually faded into obscurity. In the present day, the story follows two elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, who live in the town of New Mushroomton. Ian, the younger brother, is a high school student grappling with self-confidence, while Barley, the elder, is a passionate role-playing gamer and history enthusiast. Their father, Wilden, passed away from a severe illness before Ian was born, leaving their mother, Laurel, to raise them alone. Laurel is now dating Colt Bronco, a centaur police officer, whom the brothers are not fond of.
On Ian’s sixteenth birthday, Laurel presents her sons with a gift from their late father: a magical staff, a rare Phoenix gem, and a letter describing a “visitation spell” that can bring Wilden back to life for a single day. Ian successfully begins casting the spell, but when Barley steps in to assist, it goes awry. Only the lower half of Wilden’s body is restored before the gem crumbles. Determined to complete the spell, the brothers set out on a journey to find another gem, taking Barley’s cherished van, “Guinevere,” with them. Realizing the boys are missing, Laurel sets off to find them.
During their quest, Ian and Barley visit the Manticore’s Tavern, hoping to locate a map to the gem. However, the tavern has been transformed into a family restaurant managed by the Manticore, nicknamed “Corey.” A heated argument between Corey and Ian leads her to realize how unfulfilled she feels, prompting her to drive the customers away in a chaotic outburst. In the process, she accidentally sets the restaurant and the map on fire. The brothers’ only remaining clue is a children’s menu pointing to “Raven’s Point,” a nearby mountain. Meanwhile, Laurel arrives at the scene and strikes up a friendship with Corey, who agrees to help her track down her sons.
