Description: “One Piece Film: Red” is a 2022 Japanese animated fantasy action-adventure film directed by Gorō Taniguchi and produced by Toei Animation. It is the fifteenth installment in the One Piece film series, based on the popular manga created by Eiichiro Oda. The movie was first announced on November 21, 2021, to celebrate the 1000th episode of the One Piece anime. Following the episode’s broadcast, a teaser trailer and poster were released.
The film had its world premiere on July 22, 2022, at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, marking the 25th anniversary of the One Piece manga. It was released theatrically in Japan on August 6, 2022. By October 10, 2022, the movie had grossed over ¥16.78 billion in Japan, making it the highest-grossing One Piece film, the top-grossing film of 2022 in Japan, and the 11th highest-grossing film of all time in the country.
The story centers around Uta, the world’s most beloved singer, known for her mysterious persona and captivating, otherworldly voice. She is set to reveal her true identity for the first time at a live concert. The event attracts a diverse audience, including eager fans, vigilant Navy officials, and the Straw Hat Pirates led by Monkey D. Luffy, who simply wants to enjoy the music. The plot takes an intriguing turn when Luffy discloses that Uta is the daughter of Red-Haired Shanks, one of the most iconic characters in the series, and a childhood friend of Luffy himself.
