Description: Omkara, released in 2006, tells the story of Omkara “Omi” Shukla, a loyal enforcer for a political gang led by Tiwari Bhaisaab. Omi’s trusted lieutenants are Ishwar “Langda” Tyagi and Keshav “Kesu Firangi” Upadhyay. The plot begins when Langda disrupts a wedding procession, daring the groom to stop Omi from taking the bride, Dolly Mishra. The groom fails, and the wedding is called off. Dolly’s father, Raghunath Mishra, a respected lawyer, is furious with Omi and even threatens to kill him. However, when Bhaisaab arranges a meeting, Dolly clarifies that she willingly left with Omi, not abducted. Her father, disgusted by her love for a man of a lower caste, leaves the village in disgrace.
As the story unfolds, Omi helps Bhaisaab secure a parliamentary seat by manipulating an MMS scandal involving a political rival. With Bhaisaab’s victory, Omi is promoted as the candidate for the state elections. However, Omi appoints Kesu as his successor over Langda, believing Kesu’s educated background and upper-class origins will appeal to younger voters. Langda, feeling overlooked and resentful of Kesu, plots revenge. He stirs conflict between Kesu and the humiliated former groom, Rajju, and manipulates Omi into believing Kesu and Dolly are having an affair. Langda’s wife, Indu, also plays a role by stealing a precious gift Omi gave to Dolly, further fueling the turmoil.
