Description: In December 2016, Josh Parker, the Chief Technology Officer of Zenotek in Chicago, finalizes his divorce. Meanwhile, interim CEO Carol Vanstone threatens to lay off 40% of the workforce, cut bonuses, and cancel the annual Christmas party after the company fails to meet its quarterly targets.
Carol’s brother, branch manager Clay, is determined to protect his employees. Resentful of their father’s favoritism toward Clay, Carol threatens to shut down the branch. Josh, Clay, and tech lead Tracey suggest partnering with financial giant Walter Davis, who they are set to meet later. Carol reluctantly agrees to give them one last chance. Walter is impressed by their pitch but remains skeptical, concerned that the company prioritizes budgets over its people. Clay invites Walter to the Christmas party, hoping to demonstrate the company’s strong culture. Before leaving town, Carol offers Josh a position at the New York headquarters, which he declines.
Clay organizes an extravagant Christmas party, much to the dismay of Mary, the head of Human Resources. Despite the presence of Chicago Bulls player Jimmy Butler, the party starts off slow. Walter initially hesitates but gets accidentally exposed to cocaine, leading him to join in the fun. Employees let loose: Nate hires an escort named Savannah, who poses as his girlfriend; Clay’s assistant Allison tries unsuccessfully to connect with Fred; Jeremy, who once disliked Mary, dances with her; and Josh and Tracey share a near-kiss on the roof. Clay successfully wins Walter’s favor, but the party spirals into chaos, including orgies, property damage, and drug use.
Carol’s flight is canceled due to bad weather, and she returns after hearing about the party from her Uber driver. Though initially pleased with securing Walter’s business, the deal falls apart when he injures himself during a reckless stunt. It’s revealed that Walter had already been fired from his firm, rendering the contract void and leaving Zenotek in a dire situation. Carol decides to shut down the branch immediately.
