Captain Kabir Kaul, a retired army officer, decides to teach at Wular Public School, his late father’s institution, to prevent its closure. Upon arriving, he discovers a diary left behind by the previous teacher, Firdaus Quadri. Students return to school after learning about the new teacher, but their disobedience makes Kabir doubt his teaching abilities. However, after reading Firdaus’s diary, he gains confidence and resolves to persevere.
Kabir faces heartbreak when his girlfriend ends their relationship, claiming he is no longer suitable for marriage after leaving the army. Finding comfort in the schoolchildren and Firdaus’s diary, he begins writing comments in it. He learns about Imran, a student whose father prefers him to help at home rather than attend school. Inspired by the diary, Kabir successfully convinces Imran’s family to let him return to school. Later, Kabir decides to burn Firdaus’s diary upon learning of her upcoming marriage but changes his mind at the last moment.
On her wedding day, Firdaus discovers her fiancé’s infidelity and calls off the marriage. She returns to Wular Public School, where the children welcome her back, though Kabir is no longer there. Finding her diary in the same drawer she left it, she reads Kabir’s heartfelt comments, including his admission of love for her and the lessons he learned from her writings. Curious about Kabir, she asks the principal about him, just as he had once asked about her. The principal informs her that Kabir has left to pursue a teaching course.
