**Storyline:**
Bimal, living in his Darjeeling home, is visited by his family and close friend. Anita, the wife of his eldest son Nirmal, diligently takes care of everyone, often spending her time in the kitchen. Brojen, a tea estate director and Bimal’s friend, annoys the family with his endless stories about his guru’s miracles and his excessive enthusiasm for food. Anita attempts to bring Shyamal, her brother-in-law, and Sunita closer, and the two gradually develop feelings for each other. Anita excitedly shares the news of their growing bond with Bimal. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall disrupts the food supply, as Ram, the servant, struggles to fetch essentials from the nearly closed market.
Later, the rain ceases, but the household is abruptly awakened by a powerful earthquake. The power goes out, and the house is left in chaos. Nirmal discovers that Ram’s house and orchard have been destroyed by a landslide. The next morning, they realize the only bridge connecting them to the outside world has collapsed. Soon, food becomes scarce, and tensions rise. Nirmal and Brojen engage in a heated argument, and Nirmal’s attempt to climb down the mountain for help ends in injury, though Shyamal saves him. Brojen begins experiencing hallucinations and demands more food, leaving Anita to fast. Nirmal lashes out at Brojen, calling him insensitive and an unwelcome burden during this crisis.
Anita grows weaker and eventually faints. Shyamal tries to descend the mountain alone but is overwhelmed when he spots a dead body trapped in the rocks. He witnesses Anita drinking water used to wash a milk powder packet. Nirmal harshly insults Brojen, and despite Anita and Shyamal’s efforts to calm him, they fail. In a moment of anger, Anita reveals the hidden struggles behind their seemingly happy marriage. The story concludes with a glimmer of hope as the night gives way to dawn.
