Description: “Neel Rajar Deshe,” released in 2008, is an adventurous tale centered around Raja, a mischievous and youthful boy played by Aryann Bhowmik. The story unfolds during Raja’s holiday in the scenic foothills of North Bengal, where he lives with his family. During one of his outings with his friends and younger sister Chhoti (Tathoi Deb), Raja stumbles upon a wounded child hidden in a forest pit. The boy bears injuries from rat and mouse bites.
Raja later discovers from a news broadcast that the child is Neel, the kidnapped son of a wealthy couple, held for ransom. The primary abductor, a menacing figure named Pandey, has taken refuge in Raja’s home. Raja’s father, a taxi driver, unknowingly becomes entangled in the crime after helping transport the kidnapped child.
When Pandey realizes that Raja has uncovered the truth, he seizes control of Raja’s home, holding the family hostage. Raja, Chhoti, and their friends must navigate the dangerous situation to save Neel and Raja’s father. The film, inspired by Gabriele Salvatores’ “I Am Not Scared,” is set near Siliguri at the base of the Himalayas. It portrays the escalating tension as Raja and his family work to rescue the kidnapped boy and free themselves from their captor’s grip.
