**Storyline:**
Tobey Marshall, a former race car driver, runs his late father’s garage, Marshall Performance Motors, in Mount Kisco, New York. Alongside his friends, he modifies high-performance cars. To make ends meet, they participate in underground street races. One day, Tobey’s old rival, Dino Brewster, offers them a deal: finish building a rare Ford Shelby Mustang, originally worked on by Carroll Shelby, in exchange for 25% of the car’s sale profit.
Once completed, the Mustang is showcased at an auction in New York City. There, Tobey and Dino meet Julia, a car broker representing Bill Ingram, a potential buyer. To prove the car can reach over 230 mph, Tobey takes it to a local track and achieves 234 mph, convincing Ingram to purchase it for $2.7 million.
However, Dino, furious that Tobey ignored his instructions, challenges him and his friend Pete to a race. Dino stakes his entire share of the sale against Tobey’s. During the race, Dino intentionally crashes into Pete’s car, causing it to plummet off a cliff and explode, killing Pete. Dino flees the scene, while Tobey is sentenced to two years in prison for involuntary manslaughter, unable to prove Dino’s involvement.
After his release, Tobey is determined to avenge Pete’s death. He borrows Ingram’s Mustang to enter the De Leon, a high-stakes exotic car race organized by a mysterious figure known as Monarch. As part of the deal, Ingram insists Julia accompanies Tobey on the journey. They have 45 hours to reach San Francisco before the race begins.
