The story follows Manmohan Malhotra (Rishi Kapoor), who moved to London from India, established himself, and later returned to India to marry Bebo (Nina Wadia). After securing a visa, Bebo joined him in London, where they welcomed their daughter, Jasmeet (Katrina Kaif). Manmohan often felt embarrassed by Bebo due to her appearance and inability to speak English, excluding her from social gatherings. Determined to give Jasmeet a better life, Bebo ensured her daughter received an English education and adopted a modern, Westernized lifestyle, transforming her into Jazz.
Manmohan arranges for Jasmeet to meet Bobby Bedi (Ritesh Deshmukh), but the meeting ends in rejection. Realizing it’s challenging to find an Indian son-in-law, Manmohan takes his family on a trip to India, where he forces Jasmeet to marry Arjun Singh (Akshay Kumar), a man who doesn’t speak English.
Back in London, Jasmeet announces her engagement to Charlie Brown (Clive Standen), a well-educated and connected individual, refusing to acknowledge her marriage to Arjun due to the lack of legal proof. During an introduction to Charlie’s family and friends, Jasmeet faces ridicule and offensive comments about India. Arjun defends Indian culture by highlighting its contributions, such as the origins of English words like “Father,” “Brother,” “Trigonometry,” and “Geometry” from Sanskrit. Over time, Jasmeet grows closer to Arjun, who continues to support her.
