Description: Mike, a young street hustler, finds himself alone on a quiet highway, lost in thought. He describes the road as resembling a twisted face before slipping into a narcoleptic episode. In his dream, he sees his mother comforting him while memories of his childhood flash before his eyes. Later, he returns to his usual routine, picking up clients in Seattle. One of his encounters leads him to a wealthy woman’s mansion, where he unexpectedly reunites with his best friend, Scott Favor, and another hustler named Gary. The night ends with Mike experiencing another narcoleptic attack, and he wakes up the next day with Scott in Portland, Oregon.
Their journey continues as they reconnect with Bob Pigeon, a mentor to a group of street kids and hustlers. Scott, the son of Portland’s mayor, reveals his plan to leave the hustling life once he inherits his father’s fortune. Meanwhile, Mike is determined to find his long-lost mother. Together, he and Scott travel to Idaho to visit Mike’s older brother, Richard. Along the way, Mike confesses his love for Scott, who gently reminds him that their relationship is purely transactional. Richard hints at the truth about Mike’s father, but Mike insists he already knows. They discover that their mother has moved to Italy in search of her family, prompting Mike and Scott to follow her trail.
In Italy, they meet Carmela, a young woman who informs them that Mike’s mother has already returned to the U.S. While Scott and Carmela grow close and eventually return home together, Mike is left heartbroken and travels back alone. Scott’s father passes away, leaving him a substantial inheritance and marking the end of their shared journey.
