Description: The film *Mustang* (2015) follows the story of Lale, the youngest of five sisters and the main character. The story begins with Lale saying an emotional goodbye to her teacher, who is relocating to Istanbul. Instead of taking a van, the sisters decide to walk home to enjoy the sunny day. Along the way, they play with their classmates at the beach, engaging in a game where they sit on boys’ shoulders and try to knock each other off. Upon returning home, their grandmother scolds and hits them for having physical contact with boys, accusing them of seeking pleasure. Their uncle, Erol, is equally enraged. As a consequence, the girls are forbidden from leaving the house, even for school.
Under their grandmother’s strict supervision, the sisters are confined to their home and prepared for marriage. They are forced to wear conservative clothing in public and are no longer allowed to attend school. Instead, they are taught domestic skills like cooking, cleaning, and sewing by their female relatives. Despite the restrictions, the eldest sister, Sonay, sneaks out to meet her lover, while Lale devises plans to escape their oppressive household.
Lale, a passionate soccer fan, is barred from attending Trabzonspor matches. Determined, she decides to attend a game where men have been banned due to hooliganism. A friend informs her that the village girls are traveling together by bus. The sisters, eager for a chance to leave the house, sneak out with Lale. When they miss the bus, they hitch a ride with a kind truck driver, Yasin, who helps them catch up. At the stadium, they revel in the electric atmosphere of the all-female crowd cheering for their team. Back home, their aunt spots them on TV during the match, just as their uncle and other village men are about to tune in. To protect them, she cuts off the electricity in the house and eventually the entire village.
Upon their return, their grandmother begins arranging marriages for the sisters. They are taken to town under the pretext of getting lemonade, but it is actually an opportunity to present them to potential suitors. Soon, a suitor and his family arrive to meet them.
