Description: “Murder at Yellowstone City” (originally titled “Murder at Emigrant Gulch”) is an American Western film directed by Richard Gray and written by Eric Belgau. Set in a declining gold-rush town, the story begins when a prospector discovers gold but is soon murdered. Sheriff Jim Ambrose, played by Gabriel Byrne, quickly suspects a newcomer named Cicero, a former slave portrayed by Isaiah Mustafa. Ambrose believes Cicero is the prime suspect simply because he is unaware of the sheriff’s ruthless methods.
However, as evidence emerges proving Cicero’s innocence, the mystery surrounding the prospector’s death grows more complex, threatening the safety of the entire town. Thaddeus Murphy (Thomas Jane), the town’s new minister, and his determined wife Alice (Anna Camp) step forward to challenge Sheriff Ambrose and uncover the real perpetrator. The film explores themes of justice, prejudice, and morality in a tense, small-town setting.
