Description: Mr. Peabody & Sherman is a 2014 animated film about the adventures of an exceptionally intelligent anthropomorphic dog named Mr. Peabody. Living in a luxurious penthouse in New York City, Mr. Peabody raises his adopted human son, Sherman, and uses a time machine called the WABAC to educate him by traveling through history.
The story begins with the duo visiting Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution in 1789. They narrowly escape the Reign of Terror and return to the present day, where Sherman starts his first day at the Susan B. Anthony School. However, Sherman’s vast historical knowledge leads to a conflict with a classmate, Penny Peterson, which raises concerns about his upbringing by a dog.
When Child Protective Services becomes involved, Mr. Peabody invites Penny and her parents to dinner at their home to smooth things over. During the visit, the group accidentally travels back in time, stopping in Renaissance Florence, where they meet Leonardo da Vinci and witness the creation of the Mona Lisa. Along the way, Sherman and Penny face various challenges, testing their bond and Mr. Peabody’s role as a parent.
The film explores themes of family, identity, and growing up, wrapped in a fun and adventurous narrative.
