Description: In the world of Monstropolis, the city thrives on energy generated from the screams of human children. At Monsters, Inc., monsters work as “scarers,” entering the human world through portals hidden in children’s closets to harvest their screams. However, this job is considered risky, as humans are believed to be toxic. With children becoming harder to scare, energy production is declining, and the company’s CEO, Henry J. Waternoose III, is desperate for a solution. The top scarers, James P. “Sulley” Sullivan and his best friend, Michael “Mike” Wazowski, face fierce competition from their rival, Randall Boggs.
One night, Sulley finds an active door left on the scare floor. While investigating, a little girl accidentally enters the factory. Despite Sulley’s efforts to return her, the door is sent back to storage, and he smuggles her out in a duffel bag. This interrupts Mike’s date with his girlfriend, Celia Mae, at a sushi restaurant, leading to chaos when the girl escapes. Sulley and Mike manage to flee with her before the Child Detection Agency arrives. Surprisingly, they learn the girl isn’t toxic and discover her laughter produces immense energy. Sulley grows fond of her, calling her “Boo,” while Mike is eager to send her back.
To return Boo home, they disguise her as a baby monster and sneak her into the factory. However, Randall ambushes them, mistaking Mike for Boo, and takes him to test the “Scream Extractor,” a device designed to forcibly extract screams from children. Sulley rescues Mike, and they expose Randall’s plan to Waternoose.
