Description: **Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan (2007)**
The film begins in 1192, with Temüjin, a prisoner in the Tangut kingdom, reflecting on his life through flashbacks. Two decades earlier, in 1172, a young Temüjin, aged nine, travels with his father, Yesügei, to choose a future bride. Despite his father’s objections, Temüjin selects Börte. On their journey home, Yesügei is poisoned by a rival tribe. With his dying breath, he declares Temüjin as Khan. However, Targutai, Yesügei’s lieutenant, claims the title and threatens the boy’s life. Temüjin’s mother intervenes, saving him, but Targutai vows to kill him once he grows older.
As a young boy, Temüjin befriends Jamukha after being rescued from a frozen lake. The two swear an oath as blood brothers. Despite Targutai’s attempts to capture him, Temüjin escapes and wanders the wilderness.
Years later, in 1186, Temüjin is captured again by Targutai but manages to flee. He reunites with Börte and introduces her to his family. Their peace is short-lived as the Merkit tribe attacks, kidnapping Börte. Temüjin, though injured by an arrow, survives and seeks help from Jamukha, now a Khan. Together, they successfully rescue Börte after a year-long campaign.
During their victory celebration, Temüjin shares the spoils equally among his troops, earning their loyalty. Jamukha, angered by his generosity and the accidental death of his brother by one of Temüjin’s men, declares war. Outnumbered, Temüjin’s forces are defeated. Jamukha spares his life but sells him into slavery, marking a turning point in their once-unbreakable bond.
