**Storyline:**
In 2010, Gil Pender, a successful yet unfulfilled Hollywood screenwriter, travels to Paris with his fiancée, Inez, and her wealthy, conservative parents. While Gil is working on his first novel, which centers on a man employed in a nostalgia shop, Inez dismisses his ambition, urging him to stick to screenwriting for financial stability. Gil, however, dreams of relocating to Paris, captivated by its charm, especially in the rain. Inez, on the other hand, prefers the idea of settling in Malibu.
Their trip takes an intriguing turn when they are joined by Inez’s friend Paul, a pretentious and self-proclaimed intellectual, and his wife, Carol. Paul’s overbearing personality and questionable knowledge of Parisian culture clash with Gil’s sensibilities, creating tension between the two men.
One evening, after a wine-tasting session, Gil, feeling tipsy, decides to wander the Parisian streets alone while Inez heads back to the hotel with Paul and Carol. As midnight approaches, Gil is mysteriously transported back to the 1920s, where he encounters legendary figures like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Zelda Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, and Gertrude Stein. Immersed in this magical world of Paris’s golden age, Gil finds inspiration for his novel and a deeper sense of purpose.
However, as the night unfolds, Gil begins to question his own reality and the choices he has made in his life. The experience becomes a journey of self-discovery, challenging his perceptions of nostalgia, creativity, and love.
