Description: Metropolis (1927) is a classic film set in a futuristic city where wealthy industrialists and business elites rule from towering skyscrapers, while underground workers labor tirelessly to power the city’s machinery. The story follows Joh Fredersen, the city’s ruler, and his son Freder. Initially spending his time in leisure, Freder’s life changes when he encounters Maria, a woman who brings workers’ children to the upper city to show them the lives of their wealthy counterparts. Inspired by Maria, Freder ventures into the depths of the city, witnessing the harsh realities faced by the workers. After a tragic machine explosion, Freder is horrified by his father’s indifference and decides to support the workers in their struggle. Meanwhile, Fredersen discovers secret maps and seeks the help of Rotwang, an inventor who has created a robot intended to resurrect Fredersen’s deceased wife, Hel. As tensions rise, Maria prophesies the arrival of a mediator who can unite the city’s divided classes, and Freder vows to help bridge the gap.
