**Storyline:**
Before *Merise Merise* was released, the makers relied heavily on the reputation of the team behind the National Award-winning film *Pelli Choopulu*. However, this time, they struggled to bring a fresh and unique story to the screen.
The film follows Siddhu (Dinesh Tej), a 25-year-old brat living in Bengaluru, who is recovering from the failure of his start-up. To change his life, he moves to Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Vennela (Shwetha Avasthi) is an aspiring fashion designer engaged to a wealthy but toxic NRI doctor who opposes women’s career ambitions. Vennela is determined to achieve her dreams before her wedding and crosses paths with Siddhu, who reluctantly agrees to help her set up her business in exchange for some extra money. As they work together, chemistry develops between them, but where this leads remains to be seen.
The plot feels familiar, closely resembling *Pelli Choopulu*. The first half of the film stays true to the narrative, with moments of humor that work well in parts. Some scenes are genuinely engaging and enjoyable. However, the story becomes confusing when Vennela, a character portrayed as traditional, overlooks behavior from Siddhu that she should logically find unacceptable. The second half loses focus, dragging the plot and testing the audience’s patience until the pre-climax.
Shwetha Avasthi delivers a decent performance and manages to keep the audience engaged even during slower scenes. Dinesh Tej shows improvement compared to his previous work in *Hushaaru*, though he still has room to grow. The film’s music and background score by Karthik Kodagondla stand out as highlights.
Overall, *Merise Merise* has its moments but struggles to maintain consistency, ultimately falling short of the expectations set by its predecessor.
