Description: Cady Heron, a sixteen-year-old homeschooled girl, moves back to the United States with her parents after living in Africa for twelve years. She begins her first-ever school experience at North Shore High in Evanston, Illinois, where she struggles to make friends at first. However, she soon meets Janis and Damian, who explain the school’s social dynamics and warn her about the popular clique known as the “Plastics,” led by Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith. Despite the warning, Cady is invited to join the Plastics after standing up to a sexist classmate. Janis encourages her to befriend the group and gather inside information.
Cady discovers the Plastics’ “Burn Book,” a collection of vicious rumors and secrets about classmates and teachers. Although reluctant at first, Cady agrees to help Janis take revenge on Regina, especially after Regina sabotages her budding romance with Aaron Samuels, Regina’s ex-boyfriend. As Cady becomes more immersed in the plan, she unintentionally starts to adopt Regina’s mean-spirited and superficial behaviors, drifting away from Janis and Damian. The story explores the consequences of betrayal, self-discovery, and the complexities of teenage social hierarchies.
