The second narrative focuses on Deepak Kumar, a young man from the Dom community in Varanasi, whose family works at cremation ghats, burning funeral pyres. Deepak aspires to break free from the constraints of a casteist society. While studying civil engineering at a polytechnic college, he meets and falls in love with Shaalu Gupta, a high-caste Hindu girl. They begin a relationship, sharing an intimate moment during a trip to Allahabad along the Ganges. Deepak reveals his caste and occupation to Shaalu, who reassures him of her commitment, urging him to focus on securing a job despite potential opposition from her family.
The film intertwines these two narratives, exploring themes of societal judgment, caste, and human resilience.
