**Storyline:**
In 1971, a young girl named Lucie Jurin escapes from an abandoned slaughterhouse where she was imprisoned and tortured for over a year. The reasons behind her captivity remain unclear. After her escape, Lucie is placed in an orphanage, where she befriends Anna Assaoui. Anna learns that Lucie is haunted by visions of a disfigured, emaciated woman, which she believes is a ghoulish creature tormenting her. Despite Anna’s comforting presence, Lucie’s nightmares persist.
Fifteen years later, Lucie enters the home of the Belfond family—Gabrielle, her husband, and their children Antoine and Marie—and murders them all with a shotgun. Elsewhere, Anna waits for Lucie, unaware of her actions. Though Anna knows Lucie believed the Belfonds were responsible for her childhood abuse, she is horrified when Lucie confesses to the killings. Upon arriving at the house, Anna finds Gabrielle still alive and attempts to save her, but Lucie violently ends Gabrielle’s life.
Lucie is once again confronted by the scarred creature, but Anna sees Lucie harming herself, realizing the “creature” is a psychological manifestation of Lucie’s guilt for abandoning another girl who was tortured alongside her as a child. Overwhelmed by her deteriorating mental state, Lucie takes her own life with a razor blade.
The following day, Anna, still in the Belfonds’ home, calls her estranged mother, implying she also suffered childhood abuse. While there, Anna discovers a hidden underground chamber containing a severely tortured young woman named Sarah. This revelation confirms Lucie’s suspicions about the family. Anna helps Sarah escape, but Sarah’s mental and physical state deteriorates rapidly, leading her to self-harm. Anna struggles to stop her, but Sarah is ultimately shot and killed by a mysterious group that arrives unexpectedly.
This intense and haunting narrative explores themes of guilt, trauma, and the psychological effects of abuse.
